The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested Bishop Ndibueze Okorie Onyagoziri, General Overseer of Champion the Truth Cathedral, for allegedly s3xually exploiting a 22-year-old sickle cell patient under the pretense of changing her genotype.
A shocking case of alleged sexual exploitation disguised as spiritual healing has rocked Ebonyi State, following the arrest of Bishop Ndibueze Onyagoziri Okorie, the General Overseer of Champion the Truth Cathedral.
According to reports, the Ebonyi State Police Command apprehended the cleric for allegedly engaging in a series of sexual encounters described as “marathon sex” with a 22-year-old female sickle cell patient under the false promise of changing her genotype from SS to AA.
Sources told National Post that the victim, desperate for healing from her lifelong illness, began living in the church after an agreement between her family and the bishop, who claimed he could cure her through “divine treatment.” However, what was supposed to be spiritual therapy allegedly turned into a disturbing case of sexual abuse.
The young woman narrated that the bishop convinced her that seven days of sexual intercourse would miraculously alter her genotype. Driven by desperation, especially after losing three siblings to the same condition, she agreed. But instead of healing, her condition deteriorated further.
When she tried to end the arrangement, she claimed Bishop Onyagoziri threatened to release their private photos and videos if she left him. Upon returning to her family, she discovered that her nude images had been leaked online, sparking outrage across social media.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, stated that the cleric was in custody at the State Police Headquarters, Abakaliki. “Yes, the Bishop is with us here. He was arrested on Wednesday, October 1, and investigation is ongoing,” he said.
Meanwhile, the embattled bishop has denied all allegations. He claimed his phone was stolen and that unknown individuals manipulated images using Artificial Intelligence to frame him.
The victim, now calling for justice, maintains that she was deceived and exploited under the guise of faith healing. The police have vowed to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served in the matter that has drawn widespread public condemnation.
